'Capacity KIDS' exists to enhance a parent's clarity and confidence in meeting their child's social, emotional and behavioural needs.
capacity. the ability or power to do or understand something.
I decided that something needed to change about the way children come to be understood by the adults around them. I developed a service that provides you, a parent, with clear, evidence-based, and relevant information in order to promote thriving environments for your child. In doing so, I involve you in the process, sharing information that is normally reserved for therapists doing work behind closed doors. Why? Because children learn best within their secure relationships, that is, the ones with their caregivers.
My model is structured clearly to work towards long-term success through as few sessions as possible. I have no doubt you are doing the best you can with the knowledge, time and resources you have available. But I also believe that you want to be the best parent you can be. So, what I can offer you is the chance to feel more confident and certain in what you're doing. That way, you can trust that your little one feels supported, connected and understood, and spend more energy enjoying your relationship.
I am a Masters qualified Mental Health Clinician with a specific interest in working with people to promote thriving relationships. I use what we know about the brain and development to help you to understand the 'What', 'Why', and 'How' of meeting the needs of others, particularly children.
I have worked with children, youth and families as a school-employed welfare officer as well as in community-based counselling, social work and advocacy roles across Metropolitan Melbourne. I draw upon evidence-based modalities such as Play Therapy, Family Therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Developmental Psychotherapy and Animal-Assisted Therapy.
I practice reflectively and balance playfulness with professionalism. I am extremely passionate about knowledge as a protective factor and want to ensure that homes and schools are places of growth for all individuals.
Hardly ever without a smile on my face, children and families warm to me quickly. I connect naturally and authentically with people of all ages and pride myself on showing genuine care in building a relationship with my clients.
I look forward to meeting you,
